Why everyone keeps coming back.

Selamat Datang Laksa D´Pokok is a beloved local gem nestled in the heart of Kampung Gumut, Kerling, Selangor, serving up an authentic Malaysian dining experience that truly captures the spirit of traditional village flavors. Specializing in rich, comforting laksa and a variety of other Malay favourites, this humble restaurant invites guests to indulge in a flavorful journey that is both nostalgic and wholly satisfying.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the laksa—a thick, aromatic broth brimming with punchy spices and fresh ingredients that instantly transport you to a comforting, home-cooked meal. As customers like Hana Toptap22 passionately attest, the laksa here is “syodap tahap legend” with a kuah (gravy) so luscious and intense that every spoonful bursts with unforgettable depth and warmth. The generous portion sizes offer incredible value, making each meal feel like a hearty feast. Complementing the laksa are standout dishes such as the mee kari, praised for its abundance of ingredients and full-bodied curry flavor, and the bakso, which is equally well-loved for its satisfying texture and taste.

Dining at Selamat Datang Laksa D´Pokok is more than just a meal—it’s an immersion in the comforting ambiance of a kampung (village) setting, where the owner’s warm hospitality enhances the experience. Customer Zul “Zul Ateng” Aziz highlights the inviting village atmosphere and the friendly owner, adding that the menu is complete with unique local delights like otak udang and traditional kuih including Kuih Melaka and Tepung Pelita. For those drawn to sweet treats, the cendol and ABC are crowd favourites, with Mohd Arif remarking on how the children loved these desserts as much as the main courses.

Practical details add to the charm—located just a short stroll from the bus stop (now on the left side as you approach) and open from early afternoon until late evening, Selamat Datang Laksa D´Pokok offers a convenient yet authentically rustic setting. Prices remain refreshingly reasonable, with customers like fatini azahar noting a complete meal including iced tea tallying up to just RM14.50, demonstrating excellent bang for your ringgit.

Whether you're a laksa aficionado or a traveller eager to explore genuine Malaysian kampung cuisine, this spot promises a deeply satisfying and memorable dining experience. Its flavorful dishes, coupled with heartfelt hospitality and a charming village vibe, make it a definite must-visit whenever you find yourself in the Kalumpang area.

For reservations or inquiries, feel free to contact Selamat Datang Laksa D´Pokok at +60 17-428 1569. Prepare to feast on some of the most authentic and soul-warming laksa around – your taste buds will thank you!

My wife and I went there after a simple picnic at a river nearby. We ordered cendol, laksa, mee kari and lempeng kelapa. The foods are super good. Delicious, delightful, warmed our heart. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Please stopped by whenever you are nearby or passing by to go to Tanjung Malim from Kuala Lumpur. Lempeng kelapa is the must try menu. It is because the thickness of the Lempeng is very nice and it gives you a slight crispiness to it. Dip the lempeng into sambal ikan bilis they give you and your mind takes you back into kampung vibes in 90s. Im totally going back to this place in the future and gonna come early to taste their nasi lemak with the sambal.
